The Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) serves as the legislative arm of the Delta State Government. It is constitutionally empowered to make laws, conduct oversight functions, and represent the interests of the people of Delta State across all constituencies.
As a core pillar of democracy in the state, the DTHA plays a critical role in ensuring good governance, transparency, and sustainable development.
Structure of the DTHA
The Delta State House of Assembly is unicameral, comprising 29 elected members representing the 29 constituencies in the state. It is led by the:

Speaker of the House
Presides over sittings, ensures order, and represents the Assembly in official capacities. -
Deputy Speaker
Assists the Speaker and stands in during absences. -
Principal Officers
These include the Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Chief Whip, and their deputies who coordinate legislative business. -
Committees
Standing and ad-hoc committees are established to oversee ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), review bills, and monitor government performance.
